Today is International Yoga Day!
About one year ago, I started going to Breath + Oneness and FELL IN LOVE with yoga, the studio and the amazing teachers. I decided to sign up for Hannah Muse’s 6-month Awake Heart Teacher Training from October 2018 through March 2019 and it was probably one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
I have always struggled with anxiety and “thinking too much,” but yoga has helped me make those problems more manageable by learning different meditation/breathing techniques and asanas that promote relaxation.
Physically, I’ve had issues with my low back since I was injured at volleyball practice when I was 16 years old. In 2015, I discovered that my right SI joint was congenitally fused and was causing a ton of pain around my left SI joint due to it’s instability. After years of attempting pain management through medication and physical therapy, I found that yoga has been literally the only thing (besides acupuncture) that has helped with the pain and nerve issues the fusion has caused.
This past March, I became a Yoga Alliance 200 RYT and I will officially start teaching around the Santa Cruz area VERY soon! I cannot wait to help others learn and practice the magical healing art of yoga.
